The Scottish Centre Telehealth and Telecare and the Joint Improvement Team are organising a week of high level Telehealth and Telecare events in October 2013.
The highlights of the Scottish Telehealth and Telecare Week, which will run from October 28 to November 1, will feature the launch of the new Scottish Digital Health Institute, the inaugural European Telemedicine Conference and a European Innovation Showcase.
The Conference, on Tuesday 29th October, in the Assembly Rooms, Edinburgh will focus on all aspects of telemedicine – telehealth, telecare, e-health and m-health developments from across Europe and beyond.
The European Innovation Showcase, Wednesday 30th October, also in the Assembly Rooms, Edinburgh will be an interactive event with live demonstrations of emerging health, care and mobile technologies being developed by universities, R & D establishments and SMEs. The event will also incorporate a series of panel debates on innovation and Hothouse sessions where new ideas for health and wellbeing technologies will be pitched to an audience and a panel of experts.
Professor George Crooks said: “We should be very proud of the progress we have made in Scotland in implementing at-scale telehealth and telecare services, supported by a strong strategic commitment from the Scottish Government, NHS Boards and Local Authorities. We are therefore delighted to be the host country and partner for the first European Telemedicine Conference. The conference and showcase event will provide an opportunity to showcase best practice in telehealth and telecare from across Europe.”
